This past Sunday was round 3 of GT League Oz, held at the prestigious Autumn Ring circuit. Held with a slightly diminished field of just 7 drivers, most of the form drivers were present and accounted for, including beau261 after a round 2 absence. There was a real buzz of anticipation for the opening salvo of the iRacing V8 Supercar Series’ Season Two at the spiritual home of the V8′s, Phillip Island. Series champ Mitchell McLeod, Madison Down and Michael McCabe slugged out the closing of Season One with some major heavy hitting. There were cameo appearances from Shay Griffith, Darrin Vouch, George Fullerton, and real-world V8 racers Scott McLaughlin, Shane Van Gisbergen and Scott Andrews among others. Blair Payton took his first victory in the AVR Sports Car Challenge with a hard fought win on Thursday night at Barber Motorsports Park. Starting from 2nd place the TT-R driver took the lead on the first lap and had a race long battle with Reg Burke, eventually winning by 13 seconds after 90 minutes of racing. Reg came home second for TTL while James Stevenson put in a cracking drive to finish third overall in the Corvette.
