Bathurst 12 Hour Success for TTR

The #94 Virtual Racing School Mercedes AMG GT3 car finished a strong 2nd place in the Top Split Broadcasted race. Jarrad started the race and worked his way forward early on, but unfortunately got caught up in an accident with a lapped Porsche. Jarrad admitted fault for the accident but unfortunately it caused a significant amount of Aero damage on the front of our car for the rest of the race. Jake Burton took over in the early hours of the morning and ran a faultless double stint until 5:30am where Madison Down took over for a double stint. By sunrise, we were in a decent position running in about P6 at the half way point.

Towards the end of the race our strategy began to work out and the race came to us. Jarrad Filsell was in the car at the end and boy did he deliver! The car was hanging off the walls left right and centre in what was an extraordinary drive. Jarrad mowed down the Evolution Racing Team AMG from approximately 30 seconds back to take 2nd place with 30 minutes to go. 2nd place for an all Australian Team is an amazing effort. Well done Jarrad, Madison and Jake!

The #048 MOMO Australia Mercedes AMG GT3 car driven by Sam Blacklock, Michael Healey, Emily Jones and Kurt Stenberg made 2nd split. All 4 drivers drove flawlessly all race long and found themselves racing against World Championship drivers for podium positions. The car was running a strong 2nd until 2 laps to go where Sam had no where to go as a Porsche had blocked the track at skyline. It was a a big accident but luckily Sam managed to crawl across the line for 4th place overall.

Bathurst 12h #048 1 v4

Overall it was a huge team effort! We are incredibly proud of all the drivers involved and also the drivers that went the extra mile to ensure that we got the best result possible. Michael Healey stayed up all night in the #048 car and Dirt Driver Deane Thrower stayed up until 5am to help the #94 car. All our drivers had less than 3 hours sleep overnight last night and are in struggle street today.

It was a great warm up for the Blancpain GT WC Series and gives us a huge confidence boost for Round 1 at Bathurst. Bring it on!

TTR Claim All Three SCOPS Titles in 2017!

TTR Claim all three V8SCOPS titles!

Sunday saw the finale for the 2017 V8 Supercar Online Premier Series with a 39 lap Elkhart Lake 250 at Road America. Stephen “Sandman” Clarke in his final race before taking leave from full time V8 Supercar racing, started the second split event from 2nd place, he would unfortunately end up in an accident and finish 30th, 14 laps down. This wasn’t the way Sandman wanted to end the season, but from all of us at TTR, you’ve done us proud this year Sandman! We hope to see Sandman behind the wheel of a TTR Supercar once again in next years endurocup.

In the EMR Industries Porsche Supercup, Josh Muggleton and Michael Healey did nothing short of dominate, finishing with a sensational 1st and 3rd respectively to end the season. This also was enough for Michael Healey to seal the championship for 2017.

Entering the final race of the year, Jarrad Filsell needed to finish 36th or better to guarantee himself the 2017 Drivers Title, and Madison Down and Jake Burton needed 46 points between them to claim the Teams Championship. These were both easily achievable targets, but the race was far from easy. Madison and Jarrad locked out the front row in Qualifying, to set the scene for an epic race.

Filsell battled TTLs Josh Rogers for the lead of the race, while Madison Down trailed a couple of seconds behind. Jake Burton was battling hard with ERTs Ethan Grigg Gault, both of them with history of battles at Road America. Sam Blacklock was driving a sensational race, managing to trail Burton in the early laps before falling slightly whilst battling Dayne Warren and Luke Harvey. Kurt Stenberg and Emily Jones were both lucky to still be running after some first lap chaos, and Stenny settled in just outside the Top 10, with an emotional Jones showing true depth of character to push on despite everything seemingly against her.

The race really turned it on with a safety car with 5 to go. This condensed the field and lead itself to a huge amount of unpredictability. Filsell showed why he was the champion this year, gapping the field and taking his 10th victory of 2017, and his second championship. Down, Burton and Blacklock were in a huge battle pack that came down to the last lap, where Burton was lucky enough to come away with 3rd. However a big incident involving Down and Blacklock left Madison in 17th, still resulting in a fantastic 2nd place in the championship. Blacklock finished a personal best 4th in a 250km race. Emily Jones and Kurt Stenberg were once again caught in carnage they weren’t responsible for, bringing it home 23rd and 25th respectively. This wasn’t the result either of them were looking for, but they both have performed well this year and will undoubtedly hit the ground running in 2018.

We must also give a huge shout out to Wayne Tolley on his finish in 30th, it was Wayne’s first V8SCOPS race start, and his first V8 Supercar start for many years. We hope to see Wayne back on the track in 2018!

TTR Domination at Sebring

TTR 1-2 in V8 Supercar Online Premier Series and the EMR Industries Porsche Supercup!

The night started well for TTR with Josh Muggleton taking the win in the Harrop Engineering Porsche with Michael Healey finishing just behind him in the MOMO Australia Porsche!

The success would continue for the team as we moved to the V8 Supercar Online Premier Series. Madison Down and Jarrad Filsell had a race long battle with both drivers leading portions of the race. In the end it was Down who was able to grab his first win of the year and break an almost year long drought in the FUEL AUTOTEK / MOMO Holden! Filsell right on his tail finished 2nd in the Harrop Engineering Holden.

Jake Burton had a relatively lonely race in P4 in the second FUEL AUTOTEK / MOMO Holden but it was great for Burton to grab a fist-full of points after what has been an inconsistent season so far.

Apex Replicas Rising Stars drivers Kurt Stenberg and Sam Blacklock unfortunately had some troubles. Stenberg got involved in an accident on Lap 1 and copped a drive through, despite the penalty Stenberg was able to finish 15th. Sam Blacklock was less lucky being involved in a huge crash Lap 1 Turn 1 unfortunately DNFing from the race.

Stephen “Sandman” Clarke and Leigh Ellis also had some troubles in their MOMO / FUEL AUTOTEK Holdens with Sandman finishing P16 despite being spun twice. Leigh Ellis fought to the finish with a damaged car and finished in P23.

Jake Burton Signs for 2017!

For the first time in about a year and a half, we have some big news to announce! Jake Burton is our newest member of Trans Tasman Racing!

Jake has been a rising star in the iRacing V8 Supercar this year both in the official series and V8SCOPS where he finished 3rd and 6th respectively. Although it won’t be the first time that Jake has driven a TT-R car, Jake was voted co-driver of the year after his 2 brilliant drives to 2nd place with eventual series Champion Madison Down.

Jake isn’t just a one trick pony, he is also driving the 2nd TTLR Mercedes AMG GT3 car in the Blancpain GT Series, has won the 2015 Australian Endurance Championship and has several karting championships including the 2016 Western Australia State title!

We see a lot of potential in Jake as he looks to progress his sim racing and real world racing career even further!

Welcome to Trans Tasman Racing Jake Burton! You have certainly earnt it!

Madison Down Makes it a Perfect 10!

Madison Down wins his 10th V8 Supercars Championship win after huge drama in the final round at Road America!

Madison only won a single race all season, but the consistency throughout the season in the end yielded the ultimate prize.

Madison had a 20 point margin heading into the final round, however, finishing 1 position behind Filsell would be enough to clinch the title. On lap 21, Madison lost the rear and made contact with Filsell which then resulted in a drive through penalty. What was an almost certain championship winning position was now in jeopardy as Madison fell too many places back. In the end Madison fought back from 8th position up to 6th to clinch his 10th title in what was a hugely dramatic last few laps!

Shaun Kelly drove the defensive stint of the season with Ciolac putting him under huge pressure to come home in 8th. This drive no doubt about it assisted Down to the championship win.

Leigh Ellis drove a consistent race and finished just outside the top 10 in 11th place.

Thanks to our sponsors Ultimate Karting Sydney and Hybrid Racing Simulations for their support this season!

Thanks to Performance Motorsports for the picture!

TTLR On The World Stage

P7 to end the season!

What an awesome race last night, going in we weren’t to sure how everything would pan out and Madison did an awesome job putting the car into 7th! Our best qualifying effort of the season.

Race pace was a little bit off, our tyres fell off a little bit more then we expected in comparison to other teams in front of us and our car went away a lot more then expected through the 2nd stint but still managed to hold and pass a car or two which included an amazing pass which went on for 5 corners against Enzo from Team Redline

We decided to put Hamstead in to finish after Sharman wasn’t really feeling up to it and knowing it would be a pressure stint we needed someone who was 100% focused and Hamstead did an amazing job with Team Redline all over the back of him for the final stint.

After 1 car got DQ’ed for not having a co-driver we managed to move up to p7!

Overall an awesome season for the team! we managed to score a 6th,7th and an 8th with a couple other results just outside the top 10.

We also managed to finish P8 in the Championship! an awesome result for the team and No.1 Australian team.

Big thanks to our sponsors Next Level Racing, Ultimate Karting Sydney and KustomImage Concepts

well done to the other Australian teams that re qualified aswell for next year! Madcow and ERA.

So Close, Yet So Far at VIR!

So close… yet so far!

Madison Down and Jake Burton finished a strong 2nd place in the VIR 500 in the Ultimate Karting Sydney Holden! An untimely safety car hurt us with the strategy on the #77 car, but still managed to grab solid championship points.

Michael Healey and Leigh Ellis had a lonely race to finish in 7th in the Hybrid Racing Simulations Holden.
Shaun Kelly and series debutante Brett Stiles finished 15th after a few dramas throughout their race. It was a good fight back however from Kelly to get back up to 15th place

Down Wins Sonoma Thriller!

It was a hard fought battle up and down the field, possibly one of the best races the iRacing V8 Supercars have ever seen. Down and Filsell battled hard all race long with Down coming out on top in the Ultimate Karting Sydney Commodore. The battle for third was a 7 way fight at one stage with Richard Hamstead struggling badly for grip. Check out the action on the broadcast, you will not be disappointed!
