Bathurst 12 Hour Success for TTR

The #94 Virtual Racing School Mercedes AMG GT3 car finished a strong 2nd place in the Top Split Broadcasted race. Jarrad started the race and worked his way forward early on, but unfortunately got caught up in an accident with a lapped Porsche. Jarrad admitted fault for the accident but unfortunately it caused a significant amount of Aero damage on the front of our car for the rest of the race. Jake Burton took over in the early hours of the morning and ran a faultless double stint until 5:30am where Madison Down took over for a double stint. By sunrise, we were in a decent position running in about P6 at the half way point.

Towards the end of the race our strategy began to work out and the race came to us. Jarrad Filsell was in the car at the end and boy did he deliver! The car was hanging off the walls left right and centre in what was an extraordinary drive. Jarrad mowed down the Evolution Racing Team AMG from approximately 30 seconds back to take 2nd place with 30 minutes to go. 2nd place for an all Australian Team is an amazing effort. Well done Jarrad, Madison and Jake!

The #048 MOMO Australia Mercedes AMG GT3 car driven by Sam Blacklock, Michael Healey, Emily Jones and Kurt Stenberg made 2nd split. All 4 drivers drove flawlessly all race long and found themselves racing against World Championship drivers for podium positions. The car was running a strong 2nd until 2 laps to go where Sam had no where to go as a Porsche had blocked the track at skyline. It was a a big accident but luckily Sam managed to crawl across the line for 4th place overall.

Bathurst 12h #048 1 v4

Overall it was a huge team effort! We are incredibly proud of all the drivers involved and also the drivers that went the extra mile to ensure that we got the best result possible. Michael Healey stayed up all night in the #048 car and Dirt Driver Deane Thrower stayed up until 5am to help the #94 car. All our drivers had less than 3 hours sleep overnight last night and are in struggle street today.

It was a great warm up for the Blancpain GT WC Series and gives us a huge confidence boost for Round 1 at Bathurst. Bring it on!

TTR Claim All Three SCOPS Titles in 2017!

TTR Claim all three V8SCOPS titles!

Sunday saw the finale for the 2017 V8 Supercar Online Premier Series with a 39 lap Elkhart Lake 250 at Road America. Stephen “Sandman” Clarke in his final race before taking leave from full time V8 Supercar racing, started the second split event from 2nd place, he would unfortunately end up in an accident and finish 30th, 14 laps down. This wasn’t the way Sandman wanted to end the season, but from all of us at TTR, you’ve done us proud this year Sandman! We hope to see Sandman behind the wheel of a TTR Supercar once again in next years endurocup.

In the EMR Industries Porsche Supercup, Josh Muggleton and Michael Healey did nothing short of dominate, finishing with a sensational 1st and 3rd respectively to end the season. This also was enough for Michael Healey to seal the championship for 2017.

Entering the final race of the year, Jarrad Filsell needed to finish 36th or better to guarantee himself the 2017 Drivers Title, and Madison Down and Jake Burton needed 46 points between them to claim the Teams Championship. These were both easily achievable targets, but the race was far from easy. Madison and Jarrad locked out the front row in Qualifying, to set the scene for an epic race.

Filsell battled TTLs Josh Rogers for the lead of the race, while Madison Down trailed a couple of seconds behind. Jake Burton was battling hard with ERTs Ethan Grigg Gault, both of them with history of battles at Road America. Sam Blacklock was driving a sensational race, managing to trail Burton in the early laps before falling slightly whilst battling Dayne Warren and Luke Harvey. Kurt Stenberg and Emily Jones were both lucky to still be running after some first lap chaos, and Stenny settled in just outside the Top 10, with an emotional Jones showing true depth of character to push on despite everything seemingly against her.

The race really turned it on with a safety car with 5 to go. This condensed the field and lead itself to a huge amount of unpredictability. Filsell showed why he was the champion this year, gapping the field and taking his 10th victory of 2017, and his second championship. Down, Burton and Blacklock were in a huge battle pack that came down to the last lap, where Burton was lucky enough to come away with 3rd. However a big incident involving Down and Blacklock left Madison in 17th, still resulting in a fantastic 2nd place in the championship. Blacklock finished a personal best 4th in a 250km race. Emily Jones and Kurt Stenberg were once again caught in carnage they weren’t responsible for, bringing it home 23rd and 25th respectively. This wasn’t the result either of them were looking for, but they both have performed well this year and will undoubtedly hit the ground running in 2018.

We must also give a huge shout out to Wayne Tolley on his finish in 30th, it was Wayne’s first V8SCOPS race start, and his first V8 Supercar start for many years. We hope to see Wayne back on the track in 2018!

TTR Domination at Sebring

TTR 1-2 in V8 Supercar Online Premier Series and the EMR Industries Porsche Supercup!

The night started well for TTR with Josh Muggleton taking the win in the Harrop Engineering Porsche with Michael Healey finishing just behind him in the MOMO Australia Porsche!

The success would continue for the team as we moved to the V8 Supercar Online Premier Series. Madison Down and Jarrad Filsell had a race long battle with both drivers leading portions of the race. In the end it was Down who was able to grab his first win of the year and break an almost year long drought in the FUEL AUTOTEK / MOMO Holden! Filsell right on his tail finished 2nd in the Harrop Engineering Holden.

Jake Burton had a relatively lonely race in P4 in the second FUEL AUTOTEK / MOMO Holden but it was great for Burton to grab a fist-full of points after what has been an inconsistent season so far.

Apex Replicas Rising Stars drivers Kurt Stenberg and Sam Blacklock unfortunately had some troubles. Stenberg got involved in an accident on Lap 1 and copped a drive through, despite the penalty Stenberg was able to finish 15th. Sam Blacklock was less lucky being involved in a huge crash Lap 1 Turn 1 unfortunately DNFing from the race.

Stephen “Sandman” Clarke and Leigh Ellis also had some troubles in their MOMO / FUEL AUTOTEK Holdens with Sandman finishing P16 despite being spun twice. Leigh Ellis fought to the finish with a damaged car and finished in P23.

Luiz Paulo Gallon and Chris Osborne Join The Ranks

Luiz Paulo Gallon and Chris Osborne join the ranks!

We have expanded our GT3 roster with 2 new signings of some world class drivers!

Luiz Paulo Gallon who is currently 2nd in the Iracing Drivers Association – IDA GT3 championship has had a great deal of success this year in the Performance Motorsports Mercedes AMG GT3 (pictured). Luiz has surprised many with his pace and has proven that in 2017 he is a force to be reckoned with! Luiz is already a Hybrid Racing Simulations sponsored driver and that partnership will continue as he moves to our team! It is our pleasure to have Luiz driving one of our cars.

Chris Osborne is a well known GT3 driver that has competed as high as the Blancpain GT World Championship in 2016 with Direct Clutch Motorsport. Chris showed extremely good pace in the early rounds of the championship until some dramas put the DCM car out of contention mid season. Chris has always been fast in GT cars and has competed in several leagues over a long period of time. We can’t wait to have Chris on board a TTR car for the first time and i’m sure he will bring a wealth of knowledge to the team as well.

It certainly has been a year of change and expansion for the team, but we are all excited to hit the track in 2017 and get racing finally!

Apex Replicas Sponsors Rising Stars!

Apex Replicas to sponsor Rising Stars! Kurt Stenberg takes 2nd seat!

We are proud to welcome Apex Replicas and Kurt Stenberg to the Trans Tasman Racing family! Apex Replicas has come onboard to sponsor the Rising Stars cars as a primary sponsor as well as sponsoring all other cars as a secondary sponsor in the 2017 season.

Kurt Stenberg will run a new Apex Replicas Rising Stars Commodore! It is a pleasure to have “Stenny” join the team. We have been closely aligned with Stenny before when he drove for Dayco Motorsport a few years ago, the team knows him well and has worked with him before. It is a real pleasure to have Stenny decide to join us. We would also like to thank Fusion SimRacing for being understanding and completely flexible to work with.

“It is fantastic to have Apex Replicas’s come onboard as a partner of Trans Tasman Racing. Many sim racers collect scale model cars, myself included, and Apex is definitely one of the market leaders in the replica industry. It is an absolute privilege to be associated with a company like Apex that is passionate about the motorsport industry. We look forward to a fantastic partnership with Apex Replicas!” Said Team Manager Madison Down when asked.

“Apex has been operating for 7 years but I have a total of 16 years experience in production of scale replicas for the Australian market. Along with producing our own range of Supercars, road cars, and classic race cars we are also the exclusive Australian distributors for international brands such as Minichamps, spark, and TSM-Model covering virtually every genre of road and race cars imaginable. The primary reason I’m a model producer is because I’m a massive race fan myself and I’ve been watching the growth of iRacing over the last few years both in terms of participation numbers and team professionalism so we’re extremely excited to partner up with Trans Tasman Racing for this coming racing season. The quality of the presentation and professionalism of the TTR team members is the equivalent of some actual Supercars teams and I look forward to a long standing and positive relationship exposing our brands to like minded race fans from all over the world.” Said Richard Poole from Apex Replicas

We can’t wait to kick off the V8 Supercar Online Premier Series season in 3 weeks time at Montreal! All the cars look fantastic and we hope they will go as well as they look!

I’m sure the rivalry will be as strong as ever!” Said Team Manager Madison Down.

Having yet another strong driver on the team also fits nicely with our plans to get more involved in GT3 and International racing and venture out of the V8 Supercar field.

Not only do we have news that a well known and talented driver is coming on board, we are also excited to announce that Australian engineering organisation Harrop Engineering is on board as a primary sponsor alongside existing sponsor Hybrid Racing Simulations! FUEL AUTOTEK

FUEL AUTOTEK Partners with TTR!

Where History Meets Champions!

We are proud to announce that FUEL AUTOTEK has come on board as a supporter of Trans Tasman Racing in what is a multi-year deal!

FUEL AUTOTEK is Australia’s leading provider of alloy wheel, tyre and automotive accessory brands. FUEL AUTOTEK is also the exclusive Australian distributor of MOMO ITALY tuning and racing products, including aftermarket steering wheels, gear knobs, race seats, race suits and more!

It is a huge privilege to have FUEL AUTOTEK as a partner going forward. FUEL AUTOTEK sponsors many real world teams and drivers including Prodrive Racing Australia driver Chaz Mostert and the Maranello Motorsport Bathurst 12 Hour Hour Entry to be driven by the likes of Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup! FUEL AUTOTEK already sponsors Motorsport at the highest level in Australia, it is fantastic that now FUEL AUTOTEK is also involved in Australian sim racing at the highest level!

FUEL AUTOTEK has relevance to the sim racing community, not just real world. Many sim racers are beginning to invest in Open Sim Wheels through companies like our existing sponsor Hybrid Racing Simulations. These wheels are often sold with MOMO ITALY aftermarket steering wheels and would not look out of place in a real race car in most cases. Racewear such as gloves are often recommended as well to preserve the beautiful suede wheels as best as possible, which once again, FUEL AUTOTEK and MOMO can provide!

It is a privilege to have FUEL AUTOTEK on board going forward! If the cars go as good as they look, we should be in business!
